On your way to or from the CGCI Fall Board Meeting . . .
On your way to or from the CGCI Fall Board Meeting next week, please stop to visit Victory Park Rose Garden on Pershing Avenue, South of Harding, in Stockton. The Garden was designed by Landscape Architect Jeffrey F. Gamboni of Stockton. Mr. Gamboni is also President of Stockton Beautiful, which is the owner of the Victory Park Rose Garden. This garden is not only beautiful, but is also a test garden comprised of over 200 rose varieties with signage that includes not only the name but also the growth type of each rose for the Stockton climate. Harry Dedini, a member of Stockton Rose Society of the ARS (and a National Garden Clubs, Inc. Master Landscape Design Consultant and a Master Gardener!) reports that the "members of the Stockton Rose Society recommend the roses to be planted in the garden based on the Stockton area and ARS data." Harry also says, "This garden gives locals a chance to see what roses actually grow best in the Stockton climate and soils." Harry should know! He prunes the roses!
On Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., after the Landscape Design Council and Gardening Consultants Council meetings (which take place between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the Stockton Hilton Hotel), Mr. Gamboni, Stockton Beautiful and Harry Dedini will receive prestigeous awards from the Landscape Design Council for their efforts with regard to the Victory Park Rose Garden. All are welcome to attend.
And Lee Miller, NGC Landscape Design Consultant, will receive a prestigeous award from the Gardening Consultants Council for his fabulous garden in Stockton.
All award recipients will talk briefly about their projects after the awards ceremony. All are welcome to attend the council meetings and the awards ceremony.
