Form and Line

According to the articled in Easy Care Landscaping, 2007 issue, page 15, keep the following pointers in mind as you develop your new landscape plan: Form is the shape and structure of the elements. Too much of one form will be monotonous; too many different forms can be confusing. The ones you choose determine the "mood" or personality of your yard. Vertical lines (such as a row of tall junipers or towering trellis) present a sense of awe. Horizontal lines (sweeping beds of flowers) offer peacefulness; Curves (plants encircling a tree) lend a sense of closure or completeness.

California Style of Landscape Design

Did you know that the California Style of landscape design was developed by California Landscape Architect Thomas Church? Church’s style of design considers backyard space as an extension of indoor living space and gardens as an integral part of the home. Church wrote Gardens Are For People in which he outlines four principles for the California Style of Landscape Design – unity, function, simplicity and scale. GoogleEarth -- http://earth.google.com
Google Earth lets you fly anywhere on Earth to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings and even explore galaxies in the Sky. You can explore rich geographical content, save your toured places and share with others.

Google Sketch-up  -- http://sketchup.google.com/Google SketchUp is software that you can use to create, modify and share 3D models. It's easier to learn than other 3D modeling programs, which is why so many people are already using it.  We designed SketchUp's simplified toolset, guided drawing system and clean look-and-feel to help you concentrate on two things: getting your work done as efficiently as possible, and having fun while you're doing it.
