Consultants Make a Difference Landscape Design Calendar 2009 Landscaping Tidbits
According to the articled in Easy Care Landscaping, 2007 issue, page 15, keep the following pointers in mind as you develop your new landscape plan: Form is the shape and structure of the elements. Too much of one form will be monotonous; too many different forms can be confusing. The ones you choose determine the "mood" or personality of your yard. Vertical lines (such as a row of tall junipers or towering trellis) present a sense of awe. Horizontal lines (sweeping beds of flowers) offer peacefulness; Curves (plants encircling a tree) lend a sense of closure or completeness.
California Style of Landscape Design Did you know that the California Style of landscape design was developed by California Landscape Architect Thomas Church? Church’s style of design considers backyard space as an extension of indoor living space and gardens as an integral part of the home. Church wrote Gardens Are For People in which he outlines four principles for the California Style of Landscape Design – unity, function, simplicity and scale.
