What is the Floral Design Forum? Our Objective is to Celebrate the Floral Industry by bringing the finest floral designers, from all areas: Professional, AIFD, Ikebana schools and National Garden Club designers, to San Diego County; to promote appreciation of floral art forms; develop skills in critiquing floral art; improve individual skills for in home floral decorating; learn skills for flower show exhibition; encourage members to enter flower shows and promote floral arts in the community.
The forum is open to anyone interested in floral design. We also introduce our audience to new products, new or different plant material and ways to use them. SPECIAL CLUB MEMBERSHIP: your club can purchase 1 or 2. Offer or reward club members to try out the forum. Eight sessions for each membership, can be used one at a time or make a group of ? What can you do to help Save the Forum? Our annual memberships are down, Join the Forum for just $100 for all eight sessions, first Monday of Oct. thru May. Become a sustaining member for a donation of $500 or a corporate member for donation of $1000 or more. Donations or demonstrations of plant material and/or product also qualifies. The Forum is a part of the Palomar District of California Garden Clubs, Inc, and is a non-profit, 501 C (3). October 3, 2022 – Robert L. Gordon AIFD Ornamental Horticulture Professor and Garden Club member for many years; Kicks off the 30th season as he did the First season. An hour Demonstration followed by an 1.5 hour hands-on work show. Bring your own lunch and SPECIAL START TIME OF 11:30AM. November 7, 2022 – Master FS Judge, George Speer, will create NGC style designs complete but without flowers. 8 Members will bring “Surprise” flowers for him to use to complete these designs “Use what you have, not what you what.” Do you want to Volunteer? December 5, 2022 – 3 Master Flower show Judges, Headed up by Barbara Weiler, Create Seasonal Designs, you’ll love to take home from the Raffle. January 9, 2023 – Anthony (Tony) Alvarez, AIFD, EMC Brings a fresh look to local floral design. Teacher and creator. Don’t miss him. February 6, 2023 – Welcome to the stage Diana Drummey, Accredited NGC Flower Show judge who will give you ideas and humor. Look for Flower Show design ideas. March 6, 2023 – A very special designer, Diana Roy, Designer for Resendiz Protea Growers. She handles the books but gets creative with the incredible floral material. She chose this month because so much is in bloom. April 3, 2023 – “FLOWER POWER” Our most popular Program. Watch as 4 local college student designers race against the clock to complete a Surprise Package design from material, container and theme. Then, like a 3 ring circus, they show a “signature design,” a “round robin” and then a “wrap up” design. May 1, 2023 – The “Grand Finale” of Ikebana. Enjoy the simplicity, meaning and grace of their designs. |
